DIEGO RAMOS

Photographer & Director born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, based in Mexico City. He studied at the International Center of Photography in New York in 2015, an experience that reshaped the way he saw and thought about photography.

A pivotal moment in his practice came when he built a camera obscura in his room and began to understand how light and photography actually work. It pulled him toward slower, larger formats and an obsession with making huge images. He's a different photographer depending on the camera he's holding, the same way he thinks differently in English than in Spanish.

His work is shaped by a connection to nature and elemental forces, an interest in abstraction, and the idea that photography is fundamentally a lie. To him, lying is an art form in itself.

He's currently focused on building work with more time and personal meaning behind it, with a particular interest in projects made for book form.
